A comfortable minivan will be ready for you at 6:15 in the morning. You will enjoy the 1.5 hour scenic ride along the pacific coast to the town of Sierpe. From there the journey continues by boat. The first part of the boat ride goes right through the stunning mangroves of the rivers Térraba and Sierpe. It is the biggest protected mangrove area of Central America and the second biggest in Latin America (a RAMSAR site). It contains 8 species of mangroves and is a birdwatchers paradise. But also keep your eyes open for crocodiles, snakes and monkeys.
When the mangroves stop at the river mouth, the tour continues over sea passing the famous Drake Bay entering Corcovado National Park via the San Pedrillo Ranger Station. A professional guide will show you the park during the 3 hour hike through primary forest. He will inform you about the beautiful flora and fauna of this unique national park. Off course you will see a lot of wildlife during this hike, like monkeys, sloths, snakes, anteaters, many different types of birds and maybe even endangered species as the Tapir, Macaw and Jaguar.
After the hike you will have a picnic lunch at the ranger station followed by a break, giving you the opportunity to relax in this stunning nature environment. After the break you will go back to Sierpe where the minivan is ready to take you back to Dominical (arriving at Hotel Villas Rio Mar approximately 6 pm).
