  • Question:

    How can I get Villas Rio Mar by public transportation?

    Answer:

    From San Jose, there are two routes leading to Dominical.

    1-Cartago-San Isidro-Dominical
    Go to the Musoc Bus Station (in San José) then take the bus to San Isidro del  General. (cost of the ticket $8.00 approximately) The bus ride will take about 3 Hours. Once in San Isidro, go to the Transportes Blanco Bus Stationtake a bus to Dominical, which leaves 4 times a day:

    • 7:30 a.m.
    • 11:30 a.m.
    • 3:30 p.m.
    • 4:00 p.m.

    (Cost of the ticket $ 3.5 approximately)  Bus ride will take about 1.5 hour.
    Another  option is to take a taxi from the bus station in San Isidro to Dominical/Hotel Villas Rio Mar (50 min.) which costs about $ 40.00 – Check out Costa Rica’s bus schedule. Costa Rica’s bus schedule here

    2-Jaco-Quepos-Dominical
    This is a new road, possibly the besting Costa Rica fully paved, this route is through the Pacific coast. This is the best route if you are coming from the airport in San Jose. by public bus: Go to the Tracopa Bus Station (in San José) then take the bus to Dominical (cost of the ticket $10.00 approximately) The bus ride will take about 4 ½ Hours.
    Bus Schedule:

    • 6:00 a.m.
    • 3:00 p.m.

  • Question:

    Do we need to have a 4x4 vehicle to get there?

    Answer:

    No, you don’t need a 4x4 vehicle. All way from San Jose to Dominical entrance is paved, from Dominical entrance to Villas Rio Mar is about 800meters, It is a dirty road, with a nice view to Baru river.

  • Question:

    What is the best season for whales and dolphins tours?

    Answer:

    Whale and dolphins watching is from July to November, and from February to March. The most commons whales are: the Humpback Whale, Pilot Whale, and some dolphins such as: the Bottle Nosed Dolphin, the common dolphin, Rough Toothed Dolphin, Pantropical or Pacific Spotted Dolphin, among others.  Villas Rio Mar is located at 19mk from Marino Ballena National Park where whales and dolphins tours take place.     Is it save to swimming in the Dominical Beach?

    Answer:

    Although Dominical is a surf beach, it is the only beach in Dominical-Uvita with life guards. It has really strong waves; you can swim, where the life guards set the flags.

    How far is your hotel from the beach

    Answer:

    The hotel is walking distance from the beach of Dominical about 800 meters or half a mile the walk to the beach is a very nice one always on the edge of the river Baru
