    Whales and Dolphins Season in Costa Rica

Every year from August to November, Pacific Ocean is a hostel for these beautiful mammals, humpback whales traveled thousands miles from southern hemisphere of the planet. They arrive to Costa Ballena looking for warmer water to reproduce and give birth.

    A humpback whale can weigh up to 48 tons. They have large flippers and the hump on their backs. The humpback whale is one of the most friendly and sociable creature. It is well known for its beautiful songs but only males are responsible for the whale songs, because they are primarily a mating signal. They usually swim in small groups; these whales are found near coastlines, feeding on tiny shrimp-like krill, plankton, and small fish. The best months of the year are from August to November, although it is raining season tourist has high possibilities to watch more than one whale.
