    Easter week

For the Catholics, Easter Week is the more important week. Easter week commemorates Jesus’ resurrection. Easter Week begins the Palm Sunday and ends the Resurrection Sunday, which correspond this year to Sunday 13th and Sunday 20th. The more important days, which are also holidays, are Easter Thursday Eucharist day and Easter Friday Jesus Crucifixion day.

To celebrate Easter Week, numerous religious popular events occur, such as parades, festivals, dramatic processions, religious celebrations and processions which represent Christ crucifixion. They take place en streets and churchs. Easter Week enables to remember Jesus’s last diner with his twelve apostles, Juda’s betrayal, Jesus’s crucifixion and his resurrection.

For Easter Week, the Tico culinary traditions are to cook home-made tamales and eat biscochos and more seafood than usual. The fish the most used is the cod for recipes such as the traditional pickle and soups. The habitual dessert is “Dulce de chiverre”, before known as the “Cabellito de angel”, for its appearance to a golden strand. To this we add the “cajetas” of milk and fruits, the recipes of honey, yucca, the conserves and a large variety of biscuits, breads and toasts. Also, from Ash Wednesday to Easter Friday, alcohol sell is forbidden.

Eater Week is generally a relaxing time, a lot of Ticos take advantage of this week for vacations at the beach from North Pacific (Guanacaste, Puntarenas), Central Pacific (Jaco, Quepos, Manuel Antonio) and South Pacific (Dominical, Uvita, Ballena, Ojochal). In Hotel Villas Rio Mar, everything is perfect to spend some quiet days with your family, few meters from the beach and surrounded by a beautiful restful nature. We offer 52 rooms with all the facilities, from equipped villas/rooms to rooms with private terrace to enjoy a nice view of the tropical garden while delighting a refreshing cocktail. Furthermore, we have a restaurant with national and international dishes, a big swimming pool so that you can cool yourself of those hot days, a tennis court and mini-golf court so that you can entertain yourself doing sport and releasing stress. If you travel by car, do not forget to explore Dominical surrenders, you can find waterfalls, beaches, walking path with beach views and various tours.

Take advantage of the summer and go out with your family for this Easter Week!
