The Corcovado National Park was declared a protected area in 1975. With an area of ​​54,538 hectares of land making it the largest home to many animals. 65% of the biodiversity of Costa Rica and 2% of global biodiversity is situated in this park.
Corcovado has been considered the third best park in the world, by National Geographic.
In the park you can observe a great variety of birds such as the Scarlet Macaw, the Kettle Crest, the White Hawk, and many others, plus up to 4 species of monkeys, snakes, sloths, coatis and protected endangered species such as jaguars, pumas, crocodiles, tapirs, and the poisoned dart frog, harpy eagle etc … This is one of the few places in Costa Rica to observe the squirrel monkey.
Overall Corcovado is the best place to observe wild life in Costa Rica.
TOUR DESCRIPTION
We depart early in the morning between 7:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. The
meeting point and departure point is The Marino Ballena Park in Uvita. From Dominical it takes about 25 minutes to get there by car. (The transport is not included)
Then you will take a comfortable boat ride to Corcovado National Park. We will enter the Pacific Ocean, passing very close to places with a fascinating view such as: Isla Ballena, Las tres hermanas, Isla Violines, BahÃa Drake y La Reserva Marenco. The boat ride will take about an hour and a half to reach Corcovado.
During the tour you will see birds (the brown piquero, pelicans, gulls and southern frigates) etc … Also, depending on the season we hope to have the opportunity to observe whales including: humpback, the killer, the Pilot whales, turtles and of course dolphins.
When we get to the park our bilingual naturalist guide will lead you on a 3 hour walking tour of a pristine primary forest. The hike ends at the ranger’s station where we will serve a delicious picnic lunch surrounded by rich natural atmosphere.
Return time: between 4:00p.m. And 4:30 p.m.
