The hotel

Villas Rio Mar is more than a just a hotel.

Thanks to our twenty year experience with ecological and sustainable management we successfully integrated all the hotel amenities into an exuberant tropical and natural environment. The National Institute of Tourism (ICT) awarded us with four ´´leaves´´ for sustainability and an ample three star rating for our amenities.

The thirteen ´´4 room´´ bungalows are all well spread over the tropical garden, surrounded by tropical forests. Every room has its private terrace, allowing our guests a full experience of the ever changing sounds of the jungle.

With an estimated number of bird species of over the hundred we are a paradise for birdwatchers.

Our aim is to offer our guests a comparable comfort they have at home. There is wireless internet all over the property (free use of our internet desk), all rooms have a small refri at the terrace, most of the rooms have air co, and some of them cable TV and a coffee maker.

With a professional restaurant, a spacious pool, a jungle SPA, a tennis court, an in house souvenir shop, – tour desk, – car rental, – surf school, and a multifunctional spacious room for all type of events or activities (you name it, we organize it), we aim to offer all the basic functions of a comfortable hotel as well.

Villas Rio Mar feels as ´´being in the middle of nowhere´´, but we are not. We are on walking distance to Dominical beach with shops, restaurants, banks, medical services, nightlife, and a police station. We are close to the coastal highway, but far enough to keep it quiet in the night.

Our character is not just ´´comfort, nature, and adventure´´. Together with the ´´scale´´ (52 rooms), ´´close to the beach´´ ,´´close to town´´ and ´´quietness´´, we managed to create an unique combination and attractive place to stay for our guests.

How To Find Us

By car it is a beautiful trip through the mountains over the inter American highway. In San Isidro, just follow the signs to Dominical (30kms).

For those coming from Escazu or the San José airport it will be faster to take the costanera (coastal highway), via Jaco and Quepos. Avoiding the dense traffic through San José could make an hour difference.

Entering Dominical, the road shows a split after a hundred meters; to the left leads to the beach (400 meters), and to the right goes to Villas Rio Mar (500 meters).

By bus the same choices. Either by MUSOC through the mountains to San Isidro and then a taxi to Dominical, or by TRACOPA via the costanera. On friendly request this bus stops in Dominical. Don´t walk with your luggage to the hotel. Just jump into the local café, order your favorite drink, and ask them to call 2787 0052. We will pick you up in ten minutes.

For those who want to rent a car it´s good to know that our activity desk also is the local representative of SOLID RENT A CAR. As such we are able to offer a free ´´drop off´´ or ´´pick up´´ in our hotel or at the airport in San Jose.

For the more luxury guests, we are just 30 minutes from the airport in Quepos with daily flights to and from San Jose.
