If you stay in Hotel Villas Rio Mar and you want to do something fun in the night time, it takes you only 800 meters to go to Dominical. The advantage of the fact that this town is rather small is that all the bars/restaurants are close to each other. If you really want to party, Maracatú is a good place to go after 11 PM. At day time Maracatú is a restaurant, but at night you can hear the Latin and reggae music where the locals can dance to pretty well. In the low season sometimes it is not really filled with people and most just stand outside enjoying the music combined with the still warm air from the sunny day. But the atmosphere here is really nice and if you just start to dance, the rest will follow! In the back there also is a VIP room where they spin records with European House Music. If you don’t like to dance to that, you can lay down on one of the relaxing couches or order a nice cocktail. At Wednesday this bar has a special Ladies Night where all the ladies get free shots till midnight!
On Friday night it’s also nice to Roca Verde. On this day there is life music that is enjoyed by a very mixed crowd. Furthermore there’s San Clemente. From the inside this is a really good looking club with a bar for drinks. In the high season this is where the party is! But in the low season San Clemente is only a restaurant where you can eat Mexican or Costa Rican food. At the end of the street of Dominical there is Que Nivel. This bar is more for hanging out with friends. You can play pool or beat someone with a game of table soccer. While you’re playing, you can also enjoy a Margarita or other mixed drinks. Near the ocean there is Tortilla Flats. This is a restaurant where you can eat lots of different meals while you listen to life music on the stage near the tables. Sometimes they also have DJ music.
So, in Dominical there is enough to do when the sun is down. But it is also nice to go one or two times to Uvita. This little town is only 20 miles from here and has some nice bars where you can make a fun night. If you want to be with locals and not with many tourists, try the disco down in Bahia on Saturday nights and karaoke at Coco Tico Eco Lodge right in the heart of Uvita. Also the restaurant Delicious offers a good night with karaoke and all kinds of music.
